Federal Probe Launched After Deadly Delhi Car Detonation Kills 8

Date:

The federal Home Ministry has taken charge of the investigation into a deadly car explosion in Delhi that killed eight people and injured 19 on Monday night. Home Minister Amit Shah visited the scene near the Red Fort, stating that the cause of the detonation remains unknown pending a full forensic analysis of the evidence. He vowed a “thorough probe,” assuring that “all angles” are being considered.
The registered owner of the vehicle, which exploded at a red light just before 7 pm, has reportedly been detained for questioning as the investigation gets underway. The blast occurred at a crowded intersection near the Red Fort metro station, a high-traffic area, maximizing the destructive impact.
Eyewitnesses provided gruesome accounts of the aftermath. One witness reported seeing “a hand on the road,” while another, Om Prakash Gupta, described seeing “body parts all over.” The explosion was described as “very strong,” and it triggered a substantial fire that decimated the immediate area, destroying more than a dozen cars, rickshaws, and motorcycles.
News footage from the scene captured the chaos, with people screaming in panic as the fire raged. One heavily damaged car was visible with its doors completely blown off, illustrating the sheer force of the detonation. Dozens of fire engines and ambulances rushed to the site to contain the inferno and provide aid to the victims.
The 19 injured individuals were stabilized and transported to a government hospital. In the wake of the deadly event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered condolences to the victims’ families. A high alert has been subsequently declared in Mumbai, the state of Uttar Pradesh, and at major railway stations nationwide as a security precaution.
